the gospel of mark at 15:22 says: then they brought him to the place golgotha, which is translated, place of a/the skull (singular noun).. it might be surprising to learn there is no ancient record of any topographical location called "place of the skull".
so, is that because of loss of information or is it suggestive that the 'place of the skull' had more christological meaning?

For those interested in prophecy regarding the region where the current conflict is:The Fordow nuclear facility is located in modern-day Iran, which includes the ancient civilization of Elam. Declares the Lord.Here is a discussion in support that this prophecy has not yet been fulfilled.
If the USA deploys their bunker buster at this underground nuclear facility, it may cause a great deal of fall-out in the region prompting the inhabitants to flee. The Elam territory is separated from the rest of Iran by a mountain range, which would likely protect the rest of Iran (Persia) from the fall-out. Interestingly, Persia is listed as one of the nations that go up against Israel in a final showdown battle, but Elam is not in that particular list.
This would indeed be a rather dramatic fulfillment:
"I will bring upon Elam the four winds
From the four ends of heaven,
And will scatter them to all these winds"

Thank you for unpacking that. Unsaved bible critics have been attacking orthodoxy since almost the beginning. Fortunately, the early church leaders wrote thousands of pages of Christian defense. It's plenty of info for anyone who wants to know about Christianity. Some people just cannot stand to be in a student role, they must be the teacher regardless of how unqualified they are. This is the true nature of the heretic. There is not a single word in the English language to describe the true heretic.
"Ignorant Hubris" is about as close as I have been able to get in describing Arch heretic's like JW.s. And it only applies to some of them. Most are just followers. The leaders and defenders earn the label ignorant hubris.The problem is that heretics do not want this kind of God to rule over them. And, they will do anything to try and stop him.

The return from Babylonian and Assyrian exile was the “first regathering” (Is. 10:20-27; 44:26-45:8). Moreover, this cannot refer to the regathering of the Exodus under Moses, because Isaiah promised a “remnant” will be regathered. The Exodus was not a remnant –rather all of Israel was gathered.
Second, this passage states that this will be a global regathering (“from the islands of the sea… from the four corners of the earth”), rather than a local regathering.

a few months later it was revealed that the watchtower bought him a house in lumberton, north carolina.. however, and correct me if i am wrong, since leaving the gb nobody has reported seeing tony attending jw meetings or participating in field service.
in fact nobody has reported seeing him anywhere, not even at a local liquor store.

The fact that he is incognito now, is not surprising. He really made fun of all the people hurt by his cult with his blowing out the match schtick... How callous! The reality is that it was his light that got blown out and now he's on the run.

The ONLY way they can make good on a promise like that is by using nukes. If someone says they are going to blow up your whole family, it is unwise to just look out the window while you watch them gather the necessary bombs to do so.

I can't figure out why it took them 30 years after the generation doctrine failed and 50 years after the 1975 prophecy failed to leave.
What took them so long?
Some are haunted by the 'faces of teenagers who they disfellowshipped".
Why did it take their participation in destroying lives to get them to take a step back and evaluate what they were doing?

by SydBarrett inthe only reasons i can remember are smoking, sexual immorality and of course, apostasy.
there must be others but having been out since 1990, i'm drawing a blank.
i was thinking perhaps serious criminal offenses that result in prison, but then i remembered a brother in my congregation in the 1980's who went to prison.
